launching Windows 8 apps

Post by moshi »

i just thought i'd share this link:
http://winaero.com/blog/exclusive-how-to-start-a-modern-app-from-desktop-without-going-to-the-metro-start-screen/

after reading this, you can do things like this with Rainmeter:

Code: Select all

LeftMouseUpAction=[explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder\SchweizerischeBundesbahne.SBBUhr_cacfmp0t4hxer!App]
i still haven't found an Windows 8 app that isn't an ux nightmare though. :)

I haven't found a single reason to ever use a "metro" app on a desktop computer, but you can also do this:

your method works only for apps that register a protocol. there are many (probably a large majority) that don't.
