I'm testing my music player with VLC 2.1.5 Rincewind, libcad has some problems:
- Year is displayed as a number, 229 instead of 2003 and 278 for 2011, for example;
- Rating is missing.
...but at least, it's working.

Re: Update NowPlaying documentation: VLC no longer works
This is all I can find on this with much googling.
I can't seem to get it to work (even partially) on VLC 2.2.2 (Weatherwax).
Last report is the above from about 4 months ago, partial functionality on 2.1.5.
The interface of the preferenced menu in 2.2.2 looks absolutely nothing like that shown here: https://code.google.com/archive/p/vlc-libcad/wikis/Installation.wiki
And the control interfaces section does not contain and option to enable CAD when the plugin is copied to the specified location. That's as far as I got.
This is a real shame, IMO VLC is by orders of magnitude the best media player out there and it doesn't seem like rainmeter supports it.

Recent versions of VLC are not supported, at all, by NowPlaying.

You never know, but no, not at this time.Bishop149 wrote:And no plans to remedy this?
The author of NowPlaying has had a hex-change operation and bought a Mac, so he can't code anything useful anymore.

Hi, I made a skin that shows what's playing by reading VLC' media player's window title.
It is not beautiful and have some inevitable bugs, but it will work.
Get the skin here --> http://fav.me/da3df0q
Hope I helped

Sorry for multiquote, but i just wanted to say a few things about thisdvo wrote:hi i was looking for a fix for that problem 2 all that i found was this
didn't test it yet just found it so try it ....

hope it solves your problem
dvo sent me in this direction earlier, and while it is possible to update the NowPlaying Plugin to support VLC will it need the user to configure VLC to make it actually work. This is of course sub optimal, and at it's basically all a web api, so you wouldn't need the NowPlaying plugin to actually make a skin of it. (Yes, i'm saying it is already possible to create a skin, but it won't be able to switch songs, only get information about it)
It might be possible to use the web api to fully support VLC, but i haven't researched it enough to give an answer to this.
I might look into some options after i'm finished with all the things i have on my todo list tho... No promises
