launching Windows 8 apps

i just thought i'd share this link:

after reading this, you can do things like this with Rainmeter:

i still haven't found an Windows 8 app that isn't an ux nightmare though. :)

I haven't found a single reason to ever use a "metro" app on a desktop computer, but you can also do this:

your method works only for apps that register a protocol. there are many (probably a large majority) that don't.
